Despite the governement’s very low attention to micro-small, and medium-scale business (MSME), people at the grassroot level are not waiting for government assistance to start their own business venture. Banks are also reluctant to give credits to small scall entrepreneurs, because of their assets’ low liability.The MSMEs were, nonetheless, able to survive the economic crisis in 1997/1998, while many big corporation collapsed.

In today’s difficult economic situation, the MSMEs , once again are being left to get by as the can.Some may succeed, while others may have to close shop.For one sucess story, see this issue’s business column.
